Would You Want Your Meals in a Pill Form?

Recently, a friend of mine shocked me by saying that if he could, he would eat his meals in the form of a pill instead. For him, the act of eating takes too much time, and is bothersome. Personally I would miss the taste and texture of my favorite foods, and thought he was completely crazy to say such a thing. How about you? What do you think?

I would miss the taste, texture, and especially the smell of food. Plus I love having relaxing meals with good conversations with my friends and family.

No I wouldn't like this. I love to cook for my family and friends all the time. I like to sit down and have dinner with them. Plus this just sounds scary.

No thanks. I love cooking and I love eating. And I take enough pills as it is.

No thanks. I wonder how many pills would it take to make up for a full meal and meet the daily recommended calorie intake?

I was just telling my husband the other day I wish they would make pills you could take that would give you nutrition, make you feel full, but not contain anything that would make you fat! (A fantasy, I know). I love food and I love to eat, but I would love the ability to pop a pill sometimes when I'm really busy and don't want to stop what I'm doing to make lunch, or dinner, or whatever. I would never want it to replace all my meals, but once in a while, it would be awfully convenient!

I may not always love to cook, but I would miss the tastes and textures too much to ever switch to pill food.

I've said this too. I try and eat healthy, and sometimes always having to go to the store and cook, etc. gets tiresome. but I always manage to find time to eat sweets Smiling

What a coincidence! A couple of weeks ago I was watching an episode of King of Queens. They were showing a scene of the future where Carey was eating a whole wheat bread in the form of a pill!
So I was thinking how I too would miss the taste, look, smell, dining out experience, cooking, etc. Plus, I was wondering if its possible for anyone to have their stomach the size of a couple pills to be fully satisfied with their pill meal without it getting stapled!

I am way opposite. I love to eat for the simply pleasure of it. I wish I didn't because I could be super skinny then.

It could come in handy. I'm pretty busy with work and sometimes there's no appropriate time to grab a meal. It might be useful when camping. But I would never switch permanently. Food is great!

Does anyone remember the episode of the Jetsons where the son runs away and subsists on pill formed food but the dog eats it all? This reminds me of that.

food pills are a genius idea especially if used in emergencies. if i ever got lost or stranded in the woods and had no food but carried the pills around, it would be a great asset.

i wouldn't eat them for everyday use tho. i love the texture and smell of food and i wouldn't sacrifice that pleasure. heck even nawing on rock hard bread is fun. Smiling lol.

ugh yeah I hate eating, its like every meal is like a failure at least for me, so it'd be great to avoid those daily feelings of failure and instead eat a couple of pills

yes - hands down yes. one of the reasons that i HATE to eat is that i don't like to feel like i have food in my stomach - so a pill would be soo much better

I wouldn't use them every day, but there are times when they might come in handy. I mean, like everyone else here, I love the taste and texture os food ... that's why I eat so much of it! But, sometimes, when I'm super-busy or kind of depressed, I find myself missing meals. Pills would keep me on track.

It's sad that some people said they'd use pills when they are "too busy to eat". That's never happened to me! I am NEVER too busy to eat! What kind of society do we live in where we are "too busy" to nourish our bodies and minds?!

I agree about having food pills around for emergencies. Up here in Minnesota, they'd be a great thing to have in the car during the winter months. But I adore everything about food---preparation, the senses, etc.---and would go batsh*t crazy if I had to take pills on a daily basis!

Foods pills would be sad. Food is about much more than nutrition; it's about culture and pleasure.

This discussion is reminding me of the anime "Galaxy Express 999" in which this robot says that human food is filthy and she prefers taking pills, and then it turns out the pill is made of people. I only vaguely remember, it's been years and years since I last watched this.

I'd only take them in the morning for breakfast on weekdays. I'm not a morning person, and I can't wake myself up earlier to get a decent breakfast in. I absolutely love to eat, though, and I wouldn't take the pills for lunch or dinner!

Sometimes I am SO over food. I would love a pill at those times. But there are some things I could never give up, like guacamole or tacos!

i am one of the pickiest eaters that i know. trust me, i've tried not to be. when i go to a really amazing, imaginative restaurant i usually end up resorting to a salad because i dont want to order only half of an entree. i wish all the time for some food pill. i mean some stuff is really enjoyable to eat but for ME who recieves little or no pleasure from food, it would be amazing. but i would only take it if it was like natural and organic and stuff. i would NEVER eat some food pill that was made out of futuristic chemicals....it would need to be like a super intense vitamin kinda

I live by my self, and it's just not all that fun spending a lot of time cooking only to sit down alone and finish the meal in 10 minutes. At times like these a pill would be great.

When I cook for friends or family though, it's another story. That gives me quite a lot of joy, preparing a delicious meal and sitting down for a long time eating and having a good time.

I think it would be great for a diet. There's no way you would be tempted to overeat because the food is so delicious! But I lovelovelove eating, so... Only for diets.
