My city already has free Wifi. 2 hours a day free. You can also pay really low fee for unlimited service. If it reached my house I would 100% do it. the only draw back is this guy who lives in my house with me (some fiance or something). His job insists he has a vpn in order to work from home so its a no go, but I would still do it.

If it's not too slow, i would def stop paying for internet! Anyways i work behind a computer all day and when i get home, the last thing i want to do is go online. So i would use the free Wi-Fi for the few instances that i do go online

My university offers free WiFi and it isnt the greatest but its still pretty good. If you can handle the connection randomly going out (which even the one I pay for at home does) then it is worth it. Why waste money on your own if its floating around for free

There is free google wifi down in Silicon Valley, and lets just say I would rather use the slow edge connection on my iphone.

It depends on my money situation at the time...but for right now I am at work on a computer from 9 to 5....so I don't really need to use the internet at home.

Some times, I can barely get my wi-fi to work right at home. If I have problems with a network of one computer in a 2-bedroom apartment, God help a city to keep reliable coverage for thousands of users over thousands of square miles.

I don't think it's the cost as much as the security that would bother me. I don't want to be on the same network with people doing who knows what. I like it nice and safe behind my closed (meaning not visible to people sniffing for wifi networks) and seriously secured and password protected network.

I live in Philadelphia and we have free WiFi, but it does not reach my house. If I walk about 50ft to the corner I'm good. I just use on my mobile when I'm out.

I don't know. I doubt the coverage would be very good. It would be so nice to not have to pay for the internet every month. In Auckland, where I lived last year, internet was about $70 a month for a not very fast connection and a very limited amount that you could use a month, so half way through the month i'd be switched to dial-up...which was okay, i guess. i mean, it just meant that i spent longer online waiting for sites to load, rather than not using it as much.

I wish they'd have free wi-fi in more cities as i think access to information should be something for everyone.

I am considering moving to an apartment (not a dorm) on campus in september and might just use the free wi-fi available on campus if i do...although i'd not be able to download much. that would really suck.

Mr. Goose is a professional computer Geek, so he must have speedy internet access at his fingertips at all times. Because he telecommutes for a portion of his work hours, he must be able to VPN into the network on a reliable connection.

Futhermore, computer technology (and all things related to it) provokes his passion. He is a true Geek's geek; he's in it for the art (and heart) of it -- not merely to score a paycheck.

So, yeah, we'd keep our home connection, because I love the Goose and it excites me when he is so actively engaged in progressive technology. I revel in his joyful pursuit of Geek Nirvana. It makes me happy to see him so happy.

(Plus I'm impatient with slow connections, and I'm always plugged-in.)

Nope- I do stuff at on my home network that I won't do on public networks.
