I've had the same cheap virginmobile phone since early 2006. I think it's time for an upgrade.

I'd really love it if they made silver to match the MacBook Pros but if I were choosing out of these I'd pick white.

I had thought I'd prefer the white, but looking at the pics, I really like the black better. Maybe I'll change my mind once I see them in person.

I think the black shows wear less. It does in the Ipod anyway.

I guess white, because it will not show smudges as much as black!

I like the white one looks like it would be easier to find in my purse and no smudges but knowing me I'll change my mind at the last minute and switch to the black one LOL.

I am really pissed about this new phone. I know that's lame, but it bugs me out. We spent so much money and time on getting ours on the first day last year, like the tech-goobs we are and now this!

i'm torn! i have a white macbook and wish it was black because i'm cleaning the keys everyday! buttt, on the iphone you wouldn't have that problem---i think black would show scratches more though. the white looks like an ipod and black more like a phone! ohhhh decisions, decisions!

As neat as the new Iphone is, I woudn't have either. Wanna know why?
The cost is actually higher! Sure the phone is 199 but they raised the mandatory Data plan by 10 bucks. 2 years at 10bucks a month is $240 more! So while apple gave you 200 off att is taking it and fourty more bucks over the course of two years.

That and there is no jailbreaking, no options for other carrieers nothing! It's just plain rubbish. Thank you but no thank you apple. I'll just get an ipod touch, thank you very much.

I was all for black, but now I'm not so sure.

iLounge has some pics of the new black casing that shows a lot of smudging and wear. (http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/real-world-photos-ins...) I feared this would be the case, since it's been my experience that black iPods showed more wear than their white counterparts. Same with the MacBooks (even given that the black MacBooks are a matte and not glossy plastic). It's just the way light reacts with black vs. white surfaces.

As for Apple's move over to plastic? My understanding is that the aluminum casing on the original iPhone (which I love) had a tendency to interfere with wireless signals, thus requiring the ugly black plastic piece at the bottom of the phone. Plastic doesn't obstruct these signals, and is probably an overall cheaper material to produce and manufacture. The downside, of course, is plastic is much more prone to scratches and smudges than aluminum.

We'll see. Luckily, I'm not in the market for an iPhone replacement just yet.

love the black one, but realistically, i am not changing out of my tmo plan, so that really doesn't matter! =) however, no matter which i would hypothetically get, there are soo many cute cases and things that you'd probably never even know anyway!

White, because it reminds me so much of my first G3 ibook, which I loved dearly, and because it looks like it would be less likely to show scratches.

I was thinking black would be a no brainer but now I don't know! And I would had upgraded even if the 16GB was $599. I use this phone so much for work and personal it is worth every penny- even with the data increase. I couldn't love this little device anymore if I tried.

I got mine custom colored from colorwarez online when I ordered the first iphone.

It's all white with a pink metallic apple on the back.

Well since they don't have a red one yet...the sleek little black one is chic like a little black dress, so I like that one.

Oh god I'm just so excited to get one. I wanted one last year but I was in the middle of a two year contract with sprint that I tried so hard to get out of, and I just didn't want to pay the extra $$ to break it. Patience pays off! I think white to match the MacBook, but, either would be fine.

I pick black but after reading the comments for the PRO white I may change my mind. I am sort of disappointed with the announcement because its almost like they have cheapened the iPhone.

i plan to carry both my iphone and my ipod classic. the ipod is white, so i'll probably get a black iphone so i can easily tell them apart.

Moot point for me. That scratchable plastic back would go STRAIGHT into a protective case.

I'm embarassed to say that after purchasing the black....I now want the white. I've been calling my local Apple store for more stock. Once it's in I'm making the swap. The white is just hotter looking.

They have simply got to get gray. Grays the happy medium color for cool an camouflage so no one steals.

By cool...I mean keeping electronics cool from heat drawing duh.
