UCCA Epsom opened the final day of Graduate Fashion Week. This college has been churning out high quality students for many years and the show was not short on support this year. There was a good balance of mens and womenswear and many interesting techniques were applied.
Lauren Badiali opened the show with her line which layered leather corsetry over neutral padded tops creating a new silhouette. There were padded shoulders, exaggerated hips and skin tight dresses creating an almost sci-fi collection.
Kayley Stevens continued the sci-fi theme with a Nasa badge emblazoned line. Her space suit like creations were impressively chic with exposed zips, shoulder pads and the occasional cocoon shape.
A beautifully feminine line came from Lucy Winmill who used doilies throughout either sprayed over to create an interesting whimsical pattern or appliqued to creating an interesting neckline. The colour palette relied heavily on pastels whilst the pieces combined both chiffon and crochet knitwear.
Emma Avery looked for new ways to create volume integrating foam and sheep skin in to her line. She layered pieces to create various body shapes and played with proportion.
The show closed with pieces by Laurel Robinson who incorporated feathers in to body con evening wear for a shot of colour. Also, using crimped chiffon to create volume and dramatic collars. More wearable pieces included a bright coloured chiffon swing top styled over a black corset.
