Cargobelt: Totally Geeky or Geek Chic?

You say "Cargobelt," I say "fanny pack." This gadget-toting accessory would be highly convenient if you needed a hands-free cell phone solution to keep close to your body, like the dilemma we had yesterday, but let's call this what it is.

It may sit on your side, instead of directly above your butt or, um, front, but this to me — as cute as it allllllmost is (I love the camo, I'll give it that) — I fear that no hip-slung accessory case will ever escape its nightmarish predecessor. Has it come far enough for you?

It is cute for those times you don't want to lug your Marc Jacobs Turnlock Bowler to just walk down to the post office, or little errands like that.

I work as a production assistant for TV and film, and as lame as most fanny pack type things are, they are essential for carrying actor lip gloss, sharpies, my cell phone and as a place to clip my walkie. Le Sportsac was making a cool (but over priced) one for a while, but i think I'm going with this one to replace my plain black one. They have a plaid on one the website!

Ugh, no. If I don't want to lug a giant purse somewhere, I'll just take a smaller purse.

I can totally see this on the hips of people all over hollywood..

You know the the hip placement and smaller size will make it just different enough that the fad will come back!

It's totally geeky. While I wouldn't wear it, I can see that it would be useful for some.

I actually have the one pictured, and I think I may give it to a makeup artist friend. It's a little too big. But I also have the Urban Holster they make in denim and it holds my iPhone perfectly and it's not very fanny-packy. It's more like having pockets when you have none.

Yes, it does bring to mind the dreded fanny pack, but the attractive camouflage design is tricking me into wanting one. LOL.

    I think it looks ok!
There is a two sided version that is even nicer and doesn't look geeky at all

I love it. Im always looking for sling bags or purses or jackets with good pockets so I can leave my hands free. I would definitely give this a try.
