Explore Cool Makeup Shade Choices With Chad Hayduk

You've hopefully taken my warm and cool undertones quiz and learned about the basics of color choice selection from Chad Hayduk, Three Custom Color Specialists' makeup artist and co-founder. We've learned all about the warms — and now cools — it's your turn to sparkle in all of your jewel-toned glory.

Cools should feel special, since you account for only 15 percent of the population. So, let's get down to the nitty-gritty and bring it all together with some makeup shades picked by Chad himself, along with some other options I found.

Oh, and I should mention — even though your skin coloring may be light, medium, or dark depending on genetics, sun exposure, and changes in season, you will not change in terms of warmth or coolness. With that said, go to town — and check out my chart when you read more.

This is super-helpful, Bella! For the longest time, determining my skin tone was so difficult. I fit a cool (winter) profile perfectly (silver, icy, jeweled tones, terrible in earth tones ) EXCEPT that I had purple *and* green veins and tan incredibly easily, and although I had pink cheeks, I had some other tone which was not yellow at all, not beige

So in case anyone is in the same situation, I recently found out that I have a cool fair olive skin tone. I would never have thought that light olive could be cool, but now everything makes sense.

/ end random eureka moment Smiling

I'm afraid I'd look dead in some of these purple colors! I'm very fair skinned and mauve lips just seem a little scary! I do love white eye shadow though, so maybe I shouldn't knock it til I try it Eye-wink

I agree with d_et_g regarding the light lavenderb being a no no for me...however I will say as a super duper fair complected bi-racial person with cool undertones...the new Bobbi Brown collection with all the mauve based browny-greys looks a-mazing check it out guys!

I'm very fair, but I love wearing purple and pink shades, as long as they have blue undertones. I would definitely wear that lavender shadow shown and I think it would look fab.

I like a lot of these suggestions, I'm definitely adding this to my favorites.

I'm in agreement. Those purple shades would be too light on me also and I HATE white eye shadow. All the teens wear it and cake it on until it looks like chalk.

Hey there! In response to your foundation questions, here are some lines that are labeled warm or cool to make life a little easier:
For department store: Lancome Renergie Lift Makeup, Philosophy The Supernatural Airbrushed Canvas, Nars Balanced Foundation
For drugstore: Loreal True Match Liquid Makeup. CoverGirl is also great about labeling their foundations, too.
