i always thought that it was a wives tale of sorts..kind of like if you buy tickets at 12:01 AM then that's cheaper too since tickets are released from hold at that time. if there's something to it then i might have to check it out. there are 2 trips that i have to get tickets for so this could be helpful.

Do you know if that actually works, the 12:01 am, ilanac? And does it matter what time zone you're in? I have to buy cross-country tickets for New Years-eveish and I'm trying to skimp in any way possible.

Yup. Never heard of the 12:01am thing, though. Makes sense!

What about month-wise though? A friend of mine said tickets are cheapest 3-4 months before the date of travel...

I think it all depends on what route you're taking. We've gotten up in the middle of a Tuesday night to check before, and prices were exactly the same for our route.

These past couple of trips, though, I didn't have to pay for tickets...the people that paid always wanted me to fly on Fridays and Sundays, but I *told* them that if I flew on Tuesday or Thursday, it'd be a lot cheaper for THEM...but they didn't listen. Whatever, it's *their* money!
