At the National Television Awards last night,
Hollyoaks actress Gemma Merna sparkled on the red carpet. She combined her bright blonde bob with smouldering dark eye makeup and luminous skin. A light tan plus smudgy charcoal eyes gave her look Old Hollywood appeal.

Recently I switched sides on the great
cream versus powder blush debate. This summer I got into the habit of swapping my faithful shimmery
Bourjois blush for the gorgeous creamy
Becca shades. The dewy fresh look that you only seem to get from a cream blush is a hard addiction to break so I was thrilled to hear about the latest
backstage makeup artist trick.

Channel your inner evil teen this
Halloween by taking your lead from the catwalk. Le Freak has never been so chic with models sporting black lipstick,
pale skin, zombie eyes and
crimped hair at the Autumn/Winter shows this season. Take note though, this look is not about being pretty or glamorous, if that's more your bag then
try a cat beauty style instead.

The-Beauty-Pages Founding Editor, Louise Emma Clarke, talks us through the superskin trend. This is her exclusive blog for us:
"My favourite beauty trends are those that we can emulate with little effort or practice.

One of my favourite brands,
Bourjois, has just launched another great holiday essential, to add to my
August Holiday Must-Haves.
Soleil Ambré, (£7.95), is a fantastically subtle bronzing powder, to give you a healthy, weekend-away glow – as seen on the Spring/Summer catwalks at Michael Kors and Etro.
Bronzer is pretty much a beauty essential for summer, and much less messy than a facial self-tan. Try pairing it with pale pinks lips, for a sweetly feminine look.

This Spring/Summer the catwalks were awash with ultra modern makeup looks, from
theatrical glitter, to bursts of
bright colour. The trend we all actually want to wear though, is going by the name of Rustic Romance. Think fierce,
bold brows, rust eye shadow shades and gently blushed cheeks.

I am such a sucker for Maggie Gyllenhaal's pretty, yet unconventional beauty looks. She always appears kooky and cool – even when her makeup is red-carpet polished. Most of all, she looks like she's having fun.

Eyes awash with all shades of purple, from the stormiest plum, to the lightest lilac, stormed the catwalks – setting a darker, more sultry mood for autumn/winter.
Christian Dior, Miu Miu, Louis Vuitton and John Galliano all fell for this alluring look that is part vamp, part pretty.
I know it's still the middle of summer, but this is a great trans-seasonal trend to start practicing now, so you can wow them with your violet eyes come September.

It's out with the old and in with the new, as Sephora says au revoir to Bourjois. Word on the street is that the brand may be popping up at Target (it's already happening in Australia), but until then, check out the
clearance sale. It's a little picked over, but you can still score 25 percent discounts on summery items such as bronzers — not to mention good prices on staple items like mascara.

Welcome to the final installment of
blue is back, my four part series on blue makeup. Today we are looking at a couple of bad-ass electric blue mascaras. These are great when navy feels too safe, but you're feeling scared that purple might make you look bloodshot.
